There are many definitions related to this term, but in general they all combine the following concept:
Smart cities are cities that use innovative technology solutions to improve the quality of life and services received by citizens and visitors. Smart cities rely primarily on the use of Internet of Things-IOT technology to connect various components within them and form a network, so that each component within this network is responsible for sensing and aggregating a specific set of data. These cities are thus able to collect various data from this network and thus from around the city. The data collected from the network is the basis for building innovative technological solutions to manage city resources and services such as transport network, water supply network, electricity supply network, garages, security control, fire extinguishing services and many more. Initiatives and projects launched in transforming cities into smart cities allow for improved living standards, time and cost for the city’s citizens and visitors, and improved access to infrastructure and services. It also contributes to helping the State to provide the costs and resources, and to increase communication between the Government and citizens which in turn will contribute to ensuring continuity in the future. There are also some initiatives within the concept of smart cities that contribute to the conservation of the environment.
